"Whenever I hear any one arguing for slavery I feel a strong impulse to see it tried on him personally."

Welcome!

“All we ask is to be let alone.”
In the 1 st CWT Division, one has the opportunity to recreate the past that in order to help spectator and participant alike to discover and learn about the American Civil War. There are many units and groups that portray the American Civil War that help us to understand more about the life and times, as well as society, the individual, and the civil war soldier. We hope to see you come to an event and share your knowledge with us and allow us to bestow what we know upon you. Please, check out the events link and see where we will be. We look forward to seeing you there.

The American Civil War

1861 started the American Civil War. What exactly started it? Before you answer slavery or states rights, might I make a suggestion? Study the Civil War yourself and even go back into the antebellum period. For that matter, look back to the American Revolution, as everything that happened from the point of the creation of America solidified what would happen in 1861.

Here in the 1 st CWT, we all reenact for many different reasons. Some reenact to educate (themselves as well as the public), some to honor their ancestors, and some just because it is just plain fun. Come, study the American Civil War with us, we are pleased to have you.
